DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nAbstract. As robots enter homes\, workplaces\, and public spaces\, the gap between research and real-world deployment has never been more consequential. To make robots that truly help and work with all people\, we must understand what people need from robots\, from the start. This talk draws on Dr. Marlena Fraune's industry-academic collaborations examining what it takes to make robots work for the people who use them. Dr. Fraune will present findings from a long-term study with Toyota Research Institute on older adults' interest in and acceptance of a telepresence robot. Dr. Fraune will also present work with Amazon on robot motion design in warehouse environments\, where improving how robots communicate their movements to workers produced measurable gains in interaction quality. These projects lead into Robots for All\, the disability-led initiative Dr. Fraune founded — translating a decade of applied research into the first comprehensive best practices for accessible human-robot interaction\, ensuring robots work for all of us who encounter them.\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/10172
