DESCRIPTION:First Friday @ FACFriday\, October 2\, 20265:00 – 8:00 p.m.\n\nPlease join us for the opening of Here and Now\, Then and Always\, a mobile exhibition visit by The Truth About 250-150\, and a performance by Machete Garcia. Here and Now\, Then and AlwaysEl Pomar GalleriesOctober 2\, 2026 - February 27\, 2027\n\n\n\nThis exhibition draws from the permanent collection to examine artistic practices across the region now called Colorado. Curated pairings of works explore both continuities and divergences in regional artmaking: how have artists engaged with place\, identity\, and community across generations? What tensions emerge between celebration and critique\, between natural beauty and development\, between different communities’ relationships to this landscape? From 19th-century landscape photography to contemporary boundary-pushing work\, these pairings reveal how artists have consistently grappled with questions of belonging\, power\, and transformation\, while newly commissioned and selected responses from Colorado artists bring fresh perspectives to these histories.\n\n\n\nMachete Garcia is an interdisciplinary artist\, musician and writer who believes the arts\, education and indigenous knowledge are the most powerful weapons for peace and equity. Music\, nature and the arts hold a transcendental language through which ancestral wisdom is conveyed. Extensive time spent in nature\, backpacking and foraging has revealed that the earth is our greatest teacher if we are only willing to listen. Decolonization\, dismantling white supremacy and respecting and protecting the natural world are the main themes of Machete's work.
