DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guest talk by German alum Dylan Johnson '17\n"Political Trust and Blockchain Technology"\n\nOften erroneously conflated with "cryptocurrencies"\, blockchain \ntechnology has been the recipient of much hype - and derision - in \nrecent years. While most observers have focused on its disruptive \npotential for economic phenomena\, considerably less attention has been \npaid to its implications for politics. In this presentation\, I argue \nthat the same trust-enhancing characteristics of blockchain that render \nit a potentially revolutionary development for economic exchange may \nhave profound implications for how political systems operate. In \nparticular\, the technology shows potential to increase the degree of \ntrust that citizens have in their political systems.\n\nAbout Dylan Johnson:\n* since 2021: Researcher and PhD student at the University of Hamburg\n* 2018-2021: M.Sc.
