DESCRIPTION:\nThe Colorado College Summer Music Festival opens this year's <a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/other/summermusicfestival/concerts/2023-concerts.html">Intermezzo Season</a> with “The Art of Perseverance: Sounds of Hope and Restoration” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday\, April 5.\n\nThe concert features performances by <a href="https://www.markfewer.com/">Mark Fewer</a>\, violin\; <a href="http://www.ying4.com/phillip">Phillip Ying</a>\, viola\; <a href="http://www.ying4.com/david">David Ying</a>\, cello\; <a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/contact/directory/people/grace_susan_langlas.html">Susan Grace</a>\, piano\; <a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/contact/directory/people/dedominici_jennifer.html">Jennifer DeDominici</a>\, mezzo-soprano\; and <a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/contact/directory/people/jorgensen_jeri.html">Jerilyn Jorgensen</a>\, violin. Works include selections from Brahms' Piano Quartet in A Major and Piano Quartet in G minor\; Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time\; D'Rivera's Danzón (Memories) for piano trio\; and songs from Heggie's Camille Claudel: Into the Fire.\n\nThe concert also includes a wealth of CC student participation. Poetry that corresponds to the music will be chosen and read by Jane Hilberry’s poetry students: Iyanla Ayite\, Janeiya Porter\, Henry Freedman\, Mary Andrews\, Keiko Ito\, and Anna Heimel. Music students Lillie Gray\, violin\, Jacob Lynn-Palevsky\, cello\, and Forrest Tucker\, piano will play Carlos Simon’s piano trio be still and know\, and Lincoln Grench and Tucker will perform Shostakovich’s Concertino for 2 pianos. Performing "Everything Else" from Next to Normal will be Will Burglechner\, baritone (alternate: Kiara Butts\, mezzo-soprano).\n\nThe concert is presented with support from the CC Wellness Resource Center and the Department of Music.\n\nThis Intermezzo concert is free\, but tickets are required.
