DESCRIPTION:The Colorado College Summer Music Festival presents a Festival Orchestra Concert\, with Scott Yoo conducting\, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday\, June 23\, in Celeste Theatre\, Cornerstone Arts Center.\n\nThese concerts feature the Festival Orchestra\, comprising the student fellows who were selected to attend the intensive three-week Summer Music Festival program to learn from preeminent performance faculty through private lessons\, masterclasses\, and ensemble rehearsals and performances. The orchestra is under the direction of Yoo\, conductor\, violinist and host of the PBS Great Performances series Now Hear This. \n\nA pre-concert lecture presented by Michael Grace begins at 6:15 in the CAC Screening Room.\n\nThe June 23 concert opens with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 in C minor. The final two pieces on the program feature Festival faculty pianist John Novacek with Liszt’s Totentanz (Dance of the Dead) and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.\n\nSingle tickets for Festival Orchestra concerts are $30 for the general public\, $25 for Festival donors\, and $5 for children and students. Season tickets to both Festival Orchestra concerts are $55 for the general public and $45 for donors. Season tickets to all seven Festival concerts (five Festival Artists and two Festival Orchestra) are the best value for music lovers at $200 for the general public\, $175 for donors\, and $150 for first-time ticket subscribers.
