DESCRIPTION:The Philosophy Department 2023-2024 Colloquium Series Presents:\n\n\n\nChildren\, Borders\, and Adultification \n\nWith Dr. Amy Reed-Sandoval\n\nUniversity of Nevada\, Las Vegas\n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Dr. Reed-Sandoval will discuss how the world’s borders harm children and adolescents physically\, socially\, and emotionally.  More specifically\, she argues that “many borders…harm children by turning them into adults in the eyes of society.” This talk explores the social and ethical implications of this “adultification” and suggests an alternative that shifts borders toward child-friendly spaces.
