DESCRIPTION:Stitching Protest\n\nThis talk examines how needlework textile techniques such as embroidery and quilting have been used in the last several decades as a form of protest\, both by those who consider themselves artists as well as by anonymous makers. Focusing primarily on mother-taught women of color since the 1970s\, it discusses how the stitch can be a tool for puncturing conventional narratives and for mending new art histories. This event is open to the general public. https://www.coloradocollege.edu/newsevents/calendar/details.html?EventID=55963&amp\;booking=1SEQUENCE:0\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/7164
