DESCRIPTION:Srdja Popovic\, Distinguished Visiting Instructor in Political Science\, will be presenting: “Defending Democracy Through Social Movements.”  From brutal autocracies like Iran and Burma to “established” democracies like Hungary or Poland\, values and institutions of democracy are in peril all over the world. Historic cases and contemporary dynamics clearly point out that the most successful way to defend it is through mass social non-violent movements.\n\nStay after the presentations for a Q&amp\;A session.  Light refreshments will be served. This event is not open to the general public. https://www.coloradocollege.edu/newsevents/calendar/details.html?EventID=55047&amp\;booking=2SEQUENCE:0\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/7259
