DESCRIPTION:Join Prof. Amy Kohout\, History\, in a Sand Creek Massacre Teach-in.\n\nAt daybreak on November 29\, 1864\, 675 members of the Colorado Volunteer militia fired guns and howitzers into a Cheyenne and Arapaho village just 143 miles east of Colorado Springs.  Col. John Chivington led the massacre.  Five years prior\, Chivington was the first pastor of the Methodist church close to 7-Eleven at 19th &amp\; Uintah.  One of the troops was Irving Howbert who later served as a CC Trustee.\n\nLunch will be provided.\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/7514
