DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nThis event is open to the general public.\n\n\n\n\nKnown for the passionate and energetic spirit of their performances\, the Athens-based Galan Trio is active both in Greece and internationally. Focused mainly on presenting new compositions\, Galan Trio creates original programs\, with the most recent being "Kinesis". For this project\, the trio commissioned five distinguished composers from the United States to compose on this theme\, a collaboration that led to their first tour in October 2021. Since then\, Galan Trio has presented “Kinesis” in over 20 US universities\, with many more scheduled through fall 2025. Among the the featured composers are CC Professor of Composition Ofer Ben-Amots\, Visiting Assistant Professor Andrés Carrizo\, and Music Librarian and Seay Library Manager Ryan Seward.\n\n Galan Trio was formed on December 2012\, when 3 Greek soloists\, Petros Bouras\, piano\, Dimitra Triantafyllou\, violin and Marina Kolovou\, cello\, decided to play music together. Their common vision was to approach important pieces of the worldwide musical literature in a fresh and energetic way. Respecting the scores but reforming the academic way of performing\, Galan Trio tries to express the substance of these pieces through their personal perspective and subsidiary by using different forms of art\, such as video-art\, lighting and dancing.
