DESCRIPTION:We invite you to the opening of Naomi J. Falk’s Dreaming Delight exhibition at Coburn Gallery on Thursday\, November 21st from 4-6pm. Dreaming through playful making is a search for delight in anxious times and momentary nows. Inspired by Ross Gay’s The Book of Delights: Essays\, Naomi’s work considers what it means to dig through what remains\, such as donated quilt tops\, clothing\, canvases\, tents\, and parachutes. Through this process she improvises new stories\, discovering softness\, survival\, and abundant possibilities.\n\n“It didn't take me long to learn that the discipline or practice of [making] occasioned a kind of delight radar. Or maybe it was more like the development of a delight muscle. Something that implies that the more you study delight\, the more delight there is to study...I felt my life to be more full of delight. Not without sorrow or fear or pain or loss. But more full of delight. I also learned this year my delight grows --much like love and joy-- when I share it." Ross Gay\, The Book of Delights: Essays.\n\nThis exhibition is also an invitation to community participation and invites you to take part in sewing daily delights. You can join Naomi on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 - 2pm (November 19th and 21st and December 3rd\, 5th\, 10th\, 12th\, and 17th) No experience necessary and supplies are provided. \n\nNaomi’s exhibition culminates her time at CC as this fall’s Fiber Fellow. The Fiber Fellowship is a collaboration between Arts &amp\; Crafts and the Art Department and brings contemporary artists from across the country to CC to engage with the students and community.
