DESCRIPTION:With Talia Carden\, Lillian Fuglsang\, Josephine Thune\, and Shopie Tolson\n\nJoin us in Coburn Gallery on April 29th @ 6pm for a sharing of knowledge and conversation about community\, resistance\, and crafting\, while working on zines and mending projects. This gathering will take place during visiting fiber artist malavika rao's exhibition "kalki"\, which focuses on ideas of grief\, hope\, and the creation of new worlds. Bring your mending projects - or anything else you think fits the theme! Supplies provided! Bring any old clothes in need of repair and yourself! No experience needed. No expectations! Come spend time in the community and focus on resistance and crafting!\n\nThis student-facilitated event invites participants to explore the connnections between craft\, community\, and reflection. Offering an open\, creative space\, we'll come together to engage in activities like stitching\, mending\, and zine-making - sharing space for making and conversation. Led by students\, this gathering is about fostering community\, collaboration\, and a space for all to explore creative practices\, no matter their skill level. \n\nIn our Fiber Arts class this Spring\, we explored how craft\, particularly quilting and mending\, can be a powerful means of storytelling\, community-building\, and resistance. We looked at the legacies of these practices as ways to reflect on history\, pass down knowedge\, and create spaces of care and transformation. We are excited to support these students as they invite others into a space where we can continue those conversations - through the act if making together\, sharing stories\, adnd building connections across time and community.\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/8885
