DESCRIPTION:Living Dead Under Settler Colonialism: A Zombie Symposium for the Liberal Arts concludes with a screening of the film Blood Quantum (Dir. Jeff Barnaby\, 2019) followed by discussion of the film with David Christopher (University of Leicester). In Blood Quantum\, the dead are coming back to life and almost all of Earth's population are decimated due to a zombie virus\, except for members of the isolated Mi'kmaq reserve of Red Crow who are strangely immune to the zombie plague. \nSponsored by Mellon Humanities for Our Times\, the NEH Professorship\, Cultural Attractions Fund\, the Department of Anthropology\, and Indigenous Studies\n\nDavid Christopher is a lecturer in Popular Screen Cultures at the University of Leicester and the author of Toronto New Wave Cinema and the Anarchist-Apocalypse (Manchester University Press\, 2025). His research covers the ideology and cultural studies of digital cinema\, Canadian cinema\, anarchist cinema\, international science fiction and apocalypse cinema\, horror video games and cinema\, theatre history\, and media studies more broadly.\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/8904
