DESCRIPTION:Faculty and staff are invited to attend Colorado College Associate Professor Aline Lo's Faculty Lunch talk on "Telling on No Name Women: Family Photographs and Southeast Asian American Refugee Life Writing". Lunch will be provided.\n\nPlease register by Wednesday\, April 1.\n\nAline Lo is a scholar of American refugee literature and Critical Hmong American Studies and has published on textual and visual culture. Her most recent work can be found inAmerasia\, American Studies Journalas well asThe Routledge Handbook of Refugee Narratives.She is currently working on a monograph about unrecoverable loss.\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Lo will draw from her own personal history as she analyzes the use of family photographs in two memoirs:The Latehomecomer by the Hmong American writer Kao Kalia Yang andThe Best We Could Doby Vietnamese American writer and illustrator Thi Bui. In putting her stories in conversation with others\, she hopes to think through the complexity of creating art in the face of unimaginable loss.\n\n\n\n\n\nFaculty Lunch Series 25-26:\n\nThe Faculty Lunch Series is sponsored by the Academic Events Committee (AEC) and the Office of the Dean of the Faculty.
