DESCRIPTION:Faculty and staff are invited to attend Colorado College Director Assistant Professor of Anthropology Aaron Su's Faculty Lunch talk on "The Social Consequences of Sustainability: Anthropology from the Southwest to Asia". Lunch will be provided.\n\nAaron Su is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Colorado College. He researches and teaches across medical anthropology\, environmental anthropology\, science and technology studies\, and Asian studies. This talk will examine how different paradigms of doing sustainability today carry implicit moral and political claims\, and interrogate how ethnography can be used to shine light on these consequences in field sites ranging from China to Taos\, NM. With arguments that the technical infrastructures of many contemporary sustainability initiatives often depend on notions of autonomy\, isolation\, and protection\, thus functioning as zones of exclusion in lieu of collective vulnerability and responsibility.\n\nPlease register by Thursday\, April 30.\n\nFaculty Lunch Series 25-26:\n\nThe Faculty Lunch Series is sponsored by the Academic Events Committee (AEC) and the Office of the Dean of the Faculty.
