DESCRIPTION:\n\nJoin us\, for the Anthropology Alumni Career Panel! Lunch will be provided. Learn more about the panelists below. \n\nRuthi Markwardt '14 \nMy wide range of experiences working with Colorado's Front Range local foodshed\, from urban gardener to rural farm apprentice to farmers market manager to farm-to-school educator\, have helped me gain a holistic understanding of the food system and all those who make it work. Having seen the destruction of unprecedented erosion and floods in Manitou and the danger of dust storms on farms in Colorado’s Arkansas Valley\, once part of the 1930’s Dust Bowl\, I know how much our future hinges on healthy soils and resilient local foodsheds.\n\nNinan Riggio '17\nI’m a visual storyteller\, environmental journalist\, and documentary producer based in New Mexico with over a decade of experience capturing the raw\, complex relationships between people and the land. My work explores themes of climate resilience\, justice\, and identity—always grounded in the belief that storytelling can drive systems change.\n\nMy reporting and photography have appeared in The New York Times\, TIME\, National Geographic\, Patagonia\, and The Washington Post\, with long-form projects spanning orca behavior in the Iberian Peninsula\, bear migrations through the desert Southwest\, and community-led land restoration through the Landback movement. I’ve served as a legislative assistant in the New Mexico House of Representatives and worked as a contract archaeologist across the Southwest\, grounding my visual work in deep policy\, place-based\, and historical context.\n\nOutside the field\, I bring 20+ years of climbing experience\, two cross-country solo expeditions (on foot and bike)\, and a 1994 Mitsubishi Delica named Annie Oakley into the mix. My personal style has been dubbed cowgirl punk\, and I’m not mad about it.\n\nJamie Harvie '25\nI am a recent graduate from Colorado College with BA in Anthropology currently working for the County of Ventura's Area Plans and Resources Section as a CivicSpark Fellow. In my academic and professional career\, I've gained considerable experience in GIS analysis/mapmaking\, project management\, relational databases\, stakeholder engagement\, web content development\, technical writing\, capacity-building\, and more.\n\nCecilia Timberg '24\nCecilia began work with ARWC directly following her graduation from Colorado College. In college\, she focused her studies and field research on community water management\, law\, and policy. She has worked with the USGS\, Costilla County Conservation District\, the Denver Gazette\, and State of the Rockies Project to connect Colorado residents with the state’s climate history and current water management infrastructure. Originally from Washington\, DC\, Cecilia has fallen in love with the Arkansas River during her four years in Colorado. She is excited to work on projects that support the watershed’s community and ecology.\n\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/9600
