DESCRIPTION:Please join the Political Science Department on Thursday\, March 5th from 4-5:30pm in McHugh Commons for the latest installment of the Marianne Lannon Lopat Memorial Lecture Series\, "The Opinions of Mankind": The Global Significance of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. David Armitage\, the Lloyd C. Blankfein Professor of History at Harvard University\, asks the question\, "the U.S. Declaration of Independence addressed itself to the 'opinions of mankind'\, but what did the rest of the world make of this document in 1776 and beyond?" This lecture traces the Declaration's journeys across the Atlantic\, within Europe\, and around the world to show how the United States was born internationally and how its founding document has helped to shape the global order in the 250 years since 1776.\n\nhttps://today.coloradocollege.edu/events/9678
