DESCRIPTION:Join CC Associate Professor of English Natanya Ann Pulley for a reading from her book\, The Becoming Way\, on Tuesday\, Sept. 8\, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. in Bemis Great Hall. Faculty and staff are invited to attend. Learn more about this event.  \n\nRegistration is required by 5 p.m. on Wednesday\, Sept. 2. We look forward to seeing you there! \n\nThe Becoming Way shares Natanya’s experiences as a writer\, a professor in Native American literature\, and as a biracial woman whose Diné mother was relocated from the Navajo reservation through the LDS Indian Placement Program. The collection embraces nonfiction\, fiction\, and prose poetry\; elements of game theory\, erasure\, altered images\; and fantastical renderings to replicate and dismantle the hold Manifest Destiny continues to have in our day to day living. \n\nNatanya Ann Pulley is a Diné writer of fiction and non-fiction published most recently inMcSweeney's\,Split Lip\, andThe Offing (among others). Her writing has been anthologized inShapes of Native Nonfiction\,The Diné Reader\, andMcSweeney’s The Monstrous and the Terrible. She is a 2022 recipient of a NEA Creative Writing fellowship and her short story collectionWith Teeth is a winner in the 2018 Many Voices Project book competition with New Rivers Press. Natanya is an associate professor and editor ofHairstreak Butterfly Review at Colorado College where she teaches texts by Native American writers\, fiction writing\, and experimental forms.
